Preferred travelers get tee time perk (Jacksonville Business Journal - December 19, 2007)

Passengers taking part in the Preferred Traveler program at Jacksonville International Airport get through security faster than other passengers, and now they have another perk.

The Jacksonville Beach company operating the Preferred Traveler program is working with Florida's First Coast of Golf to offer a 10 percent discount at 14 Northeast Florida golf courses. Preferred travelers will also have the chance to sign up for tee times up to 30 days in advance.

"This marks another major milestone and benefit for our Preferred Traveler program," said Michael Johnson, president of the security division of Vigilant Solutions, which runs the Preferred Traveler program at JIA.

At its most basic level, the program allows passengers to use the shorter security line that airline and airport personnel use. They and their bags must be screened like other passengers.

Passengers traveling through JIA can also use the preferred program at airports in Albany, N.Y.; Cincinnati; Indianapolis; Little Rock, Ark.; Newark, N.J.; LaGuardia and JFK International Airports in New York; Orlando; Reno-Tahoe, Nev.; San Francisco; San Jose, Calif.; and Westchester, N.Y.
