Jacksonville International Airport’s Preferred Traveler Program Becomes Interoperable (jaa.aero)

Jacksonville, FL – August 23, 2007 – Vigilant Solutions (VS), a Jacksonville Beach-based company operating an enhanced version of the Transportation Security Administration’s Registered Traveler program called “Preferred Traveler” (PT) at the Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), announced today that it has been approved by the TSA as a national interoperable enrollment provider.

Vigilant Solutions is only the third company to receive this certification.

The TSA developed the national Registered Traveler program to provide expedited security screening for passengers who undergo a TSA-conducted security threat assessment. The program allows any Registered Traveler member, regardless of the Service Provider or home airport, to access the expedited security lane at participating airports, one of which is JAX.

The TSA certification is a rigorous process that includes a System Security Plan (SSP), Technology Assessment, Process and Procedures, Self Assessment and an independent 3rd party audit conducted by a government certified company.

“This marks another major milestone for our Preferred Traveler program,” said Michael Johnson, President of Vigilant Solutions’ Security and RFID divisions. “This certification now allows us to start biometric enrollments for the national Registered Traveler program and ensures that we can continue to offer the highest level of service for our PT members in Jacksonville.”

“The interoperability of the program among many airports will allow Jacksonville preferred travelers to leave JAX and return from any participating airport as seamlessly as possible,” said Michael Stewart, JAA’s Director of External Affairs. “With long waits at security check-in lines at many of the busier airports, this program will greatly improve the travel experience for PT members, especially as the number of participating airports grows.”

Airports now participating in the national Registered Traveler program include: Albany, NY (ALB), Cincinnati (CVG), Indianapolis (IND), Little Rock (LIT), Newark (EWR), New York (JFK), Orlando (MCO), Reno-Tahoe (RNO), San Jose (SJC) and Westchester (HPN).

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority was established in 2001 by the Florida legislature to operate Jacksonville International Airport and the city's three general aviation airports – Craig, Herlong and Cecil Field. The authority is governed by a seven-member board. Jacksonville International Airport – funded through user fees and not local taxes – serves nearly six million passengers annually.
