With Preferred Traveler,
Gold and Platinum members will be issued a small RFID tag that will allow them access to Jax-Pass, an airport parking
featuring automated parking entry, preferred passenger exit, and direct billing into the JAA parking
facilities. In addition, the tag will facilitate automatic credit card billing. This means no more stopping,
waiting or wasting time.
Inside the Terminal
PT members present their PT card at the designated area and the member will move on to the "VIP"
security lane.
What does UWB RFID have to do with the Preferred Traveler Program?
Vigilant Solutions will issue each Gold and Platinum member a UWB tag. This tag will carry a “unique
identifier” that will connect the tag to a name in the PT database. The UWB tags will provide members
several time saving features:
1. They will open parking gates
2. They will provide direct billing for parking in the hourly and daily parking
garages
3. Provides you with direct access to your name on the kiosk check-in screen at
VIP security lane
What is Ultra Wide Band RFID technology and how does it work?
First of all, the term "ultra wideband" is a relatively new term to describe a technology which had
been known since the early 1960’s as "carrier-free", "baseband" or "impulse" technology. The basic
concept is to develop, transmit and receive an extremely short duration burst of radio frequency (RF)
energy – typically a few tens of picoseconds (trillionths of a second) to a few nanoseconds (billionths
of a second) in duration. Based on the time of travel for the burst, we can pinpoint the tags location
(within 6 inches in 3 dimensions).
How secure is RFID, can people use it to get my personal information?
Very secure. The tag will carry no personal data only a “unique identifier” (an alphanumeric code),
that has no relevancy what so ever, other than in our encrypted database.
How can I replace a lost/stolen/damaged RFID Tag?
Inform PT office ASAP. Replacement cost is $30.
